How is ES202 Data Used? The Network uses this rich and detailed database to conduct applied research and technical assistance projects throughout the state. ES202 data assists local communities and the state of Ohio in achieving major economic development goals. The data helps researchers understand the economic base of cities and other regions, monitor the performance of major development projects, and assist in industry targeting, small business growth, and labor force training. For example, the database can be used to understand changes in the economic base of cities in relation to their regional and state economies. It allows researchers to analyze sub-county geographic areas, and to develop a better understanding of economic trends in central cities versus the suburbs, or cities located in outlying counties. Researchers can investigate the development of new employment centers in the state, monitor changes in industrial structure, and identify growing and declining industries and where the growth or decline occurs. |
